Girl Time!

Ariel and I had a little fun tonight while watching The Munsters with a mini hair salon in our living room.  I flat ironed her hair- my first time ever!- and she tried to curl my hair.  She also experimented with her Bump-It and EZ Comb but we only got a picture of the curls.  Let me know if you need an appointment at the Dearman Cottage Salon!

Christmas Time is Here!

After the kids were back from visitation some volunteers from New Zion Hill Baptist Church came over with ornaments, lights, and other goodies to help us decorate the cottage.  The kids did such a great job and we're thankful for the donations to help our cottage look so festive!

In The Woods

Swallow Fork Lake Cabins is s a family owned property with 3 cabins around a small lake. We were given a 2 night stay to get away from it all.  So on Monday off we went- 30 minutes down the road- to Poplarville, MS.  We found the place, no problem, and here's our 1 bedroom cabin.

I am not a camper so I was a bit hesitant about staying in a place that looked so rustic.  Fortunately, the inside was nicer than the outside let on.

It had cable.

Electricity.

A bed.

And indoor plumbing.

On Tuesday we went an explored the small town of Poplarville.  It didn't take very long but I was able to get a few books at a used bookstore and we met a local artist who was preparing for a Christmas open house.

I'm not sure we'd go back again but it was nice to get away from the business and noise of normal life.

Thankfulness

Today we had a campus Thanksgiving lunch.   We had lots and lots of food to eat and made a Thankfulness Tree.  There are so many things to be thankful for and my list this year includes Homes of Hope, the kids we have, and our families that support us in this ministry.  The kids leave on Wednesday to spend a few days with their families.  We're currently off duty but will be back on come Friday when the kids are to come back home.

Party Time! Excellent!

Preston turned 15 today!  All he really wanted was fishing gear and a cheesecake.  He got both.  A local church also provided him with a gift card to Gander Mountain and they'll take him tomorrow to spend it.  I am so thankful for people in our community who support our ministry and our kids.

Singing Praise

Ashton and Trell sang 3 songs in church last night with Praise Kids.  This was my first experience as a mom watching her kids perform so I appropriately set up in the second row and had my camera ready.
